... reckless driving through hairpin turns in the mountains. Upon our return, we learned that a volcano in the province "erupted" today (Trifecta item three)...but we really learned that it only spit out ashes and vapor, so we are fine and safe. Pizza for dinner and bedtime comprises the rest of the agenda for today. I took some volcano pictures...I'll post tomorrow.

Oh, and I'm a shade darker than I used to be :). Good night!

... geeky adventuring by spending the morning kayaking on Lake Arenal (something of a massive artificial lake that was dammed in 1979 and initially generated 70% of the countries electricity- it now generates about 20%). Not bothering to dry off we went straight to a waterfall rappelling adventure- four rappels, three in or around waterfalls. Getting pushed backwards off a cliff doesn't make for the most relaxing way to see the beauty of Costa Rica but it did get the heart racing. ...

Wednesday's for whatever reason, I have decided that I double up on afternoon classes so that I can have an afternoon off at the end of the week. I had regular class and knew that I was going to need some of Monteverde's finest coffee beans to help me stay fired up on Spanish.

... lemons, limes,oranges, passion fruit, grapefruit and more grow just outside our door. We were told we can pick and eat any fruit that we’d like.

Also, the resort has about 8 or so pools and hot tubs – one "normal" pool, one normal hot tub, and then one pool and several other hot tubs that are fed from hot springs water – it’s amazing! There are exotic ducks here, and amazing vegetation, not to mention a working farm – one ...

... flora and fauna. A large, turkey-like bird emerged onto the path in front of us at one point, crossing into the underbrush on the other side. Other than that (which was a moment not to be scoffed at), the walk was nice, but was only a short loop, never taking us out of the forest or up the volcano.

By this point, we decided to give up. We had reservations at the hot springs to look forward to and the observatory museum description hadn't been compelling ...
