    Monteverde, which means Green Mountain, is located at 1400 metres in north central Costa Rica. It is about a three and half hour drive from San Jose on a winding narrow dirt road (and I wasn't motion sick!). It is very windy and cool (10 degrees this morning). It is a tropical cloud forest.     ... far from La Fortuna. The upside was we ended up at a beautiful hotel in the middle of nowhere surrounded by unrivalled views of Arenal and the lake so we grabbed lunch and a beer before getting a (long) taxi back. We slept the rest of the afternoon before going to another restaurant for equally yummy steak! We spent the rest of our evening hanging out at the hostel drinking wine in hammocks before hitting the sack as an early start to head to the coast. Mucho gusto ...

So far, I'm doing okay but I'm worried I might be in over my head next week with a new class so instead of doing the touristy weekend trips, I'm one of few staying behind to explore the area and study, study, study! Yesterday, cooking class was awesome. Much better than the Flamingo campus as it was more organized with more space, it was funny with the head cook yelling at us each time we spoke English.... "No más ingles!! ...
