Today was Anny's last day in Venice and I thought I'd let her spend it with her uncle, Amran, and see her just before she leaves. Her flight was in the evening so I had the day to just wander and explore Venice again.

... tourists and shops congregate. It was interesting to note that there are NO gondolas in the areas where we walked. Apparently, they are only for tourists (Venetians must walk, use vaporettos or have their own little powerboats).

... awe. I lucked out with a hostel situated right on the grand canal and only 5 min from the train station. Wow is all I can say, this is absolutely incredible.

So it is officially my first full day in Venezia and I find myself at one of the farthest corners of the island. With the ocean to one side and a beautiful park full of greenery behind me, I am loving life. No tourists to be seen, only locals taking in the day during their jog or fishing ...
