Novi Sad -so sad to leave...

... another day to visit Fruska Gora but I think we could easily spend a few days here and not get bored and it's a really nice place to just relax and recharge.

Nonie and I caught a bus out to Sremski Karlovci as we read it was a preserved old town. Unfortunately most things were closed including the bee keeping museum that we particularly wanted to see as they made their own honey wine - which sounds like mead and was apparently served on the Titanic ...

A mess in Pécs

... Unlike any other western country where the council
would work in stages, in Pécs they have literally dug everything up at
the same time. This definitely didn't make being a tourist there easy.

Meanwhile I have noticed the population here to be quite reserved, and
not exactly the most respectful of the elderly. Since most trains here
go to/from Budapest, in my travels around the country I have been
taking buses ...

DOBRODOSLI U MAGICNI SVET PETRA VRANJESICA

... uvek se more nešto iskombinovati.

A hidden piece of the west

... under Austro-Hungarian Empire and only fell under the Balkans upon the formation of Yugoslavia in the 1920s. The city was small and compact with one long square and art-deco buildings interspersed with gothic and baroque architecture - the Austrian influences were very obvious with the churches also falling under catholic (not orthodox) denomination (compared to Belgrade).

Well Off the Beaten Path

... girl caught my eye. It was a clever design but on her was poorly executed. "Czech These Out" was emblazoned across the front in the red, white, and blue of the Czech flag. Just below Czech These Out were two small arrows pointing at where two boobs should be. Maybe she bought the shirt at the sex museum.

I looked and I looked but I just couldn't figure out what the arrows were supposed to be pointing to. Right on cue ...

Biketour arriving at MUM camp!

A dark night...

... pictures of earlier places and these are now lost forever.

We got in to the room before we noticed it was gone and then had to make our way over to the police station to report it but when we finally got there at about 11 we were told to return in the morning when an interpreter would be available.

This meant missing our morning train but we went back and lodged the report and got the all important crime number for the insurance. All in all a bad night in Pecs...

Croatia ... a vacation for some, war for others!

... good. I really wish I could have spent more time there too ... it seemed like a place where people lived simply and didn't take anything for granted. Life centered around their families ... the small things in life were appreciated more. Who knows? Maybe one day I can go back again ... It was just a shame to see the war get closer ... and closer ... and closer ... as we neared the Town of Brcko, BiH Until next time ...

Taking the long way home!

When leaving Bosnia- Herzegovina, I embarked on a very long bus ride that took us through Zagreb, Slovenia, into Italy and then on through Austria, all before returning into Germany. I was so glad to get back home. What an awful trip that was- too bad I cannot talk about the reasoning for taking such a long route but it was nice to see the countries as we stopped along the way.
