it. A couple days later, I thought of Lyon and why it sounded so familiar, I
finally thought, oh, maybe this is the city that Candice’s friend lives in, I’ll
have to ask her. After a Facebook message or 2, I was set up with Elodie’s
contact info and she said for sure she’d like to show us around a bit, but she
would be busy at the end of the month, so she’ll see what she could do.

... after a church is the reason for death by being crushed to death... That would probably make me doubt it a bit! Now they built more foundation into the ground so hopefully I won't be the next victim. A little jaunt down from the basilica is a roman amphitheater still intact!! They actually have a bunch of concerts put on there in the summer! It's amazing because anything remotely "old" in the states is totally roped off but here you can climb all over it and it's still in use! AND ...

... tour of Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon). On the way I have a grammatically-perfect French conversation with a gentleman who approaches us on the street: "Je cherche Les Halles?" "Ah oui, deuxième à droite." The tour guide is very good, and we spend an interesting couple of hours wandering various parts of the old city, even though we have trodden most of the streets already given that is where we are staying. Interesting fact: Lyon obtained world heritage ...
