To Harlingen as on the Dutch coast and close to Afsluitdijk where we planned to cross the following day. We returned to Gorredijk and then rode bicycles through the woods and countryside to find a lovely quiet place to enjoy afternoon tea, in the sunshine.

    Leeuwarden and Falkert

... room walls are covered in huge portraits of royals, and draped in red velvet curtains. There was a wedding reception in the next room across. We are unable to pay for anything. The first time we tried, Tim was quite sternly told 'no, and don't do that again!'. Another time Juliet quietly said 'no no it's an insult'. She is a little more down to earth and aware of regular people. Falkert has been overly hospitable and lovely to us, and quite clearly realizes that we're different. ...
