... were able to see the beauty of the Alhambra. The palace was gorgeous and intricately decorated with interesting shapes and tiles. Though Scott and I enjoyed our time there very much, it was interesting to see the look on Torrey's face as she walked though the palace, a look of sheer awe. Its times like these that I wish I knew more about architecture and how it works because although the palace was beautiful, Torrey seemed to appreciate its awesomeness much more so ...

After a 6 hour drive, (we´ve now covered around 1,600miles since leaving Bmth ) we enter Granada just b4 dark. Granada is the gateway to the Sierra Nevada, and our intention is to stay 2nights, mainly so we can spend one day in the Alhambra. We pitch our tent just b4 dark, the campsite conveniently located 5km outside Granada. We immediately notice a sharp (can see our breath!) drop in temperature, so after a camp meal and a couple of ...
... of the small plaza that sold baked goods. It looked so good and there was a line with about six people. On my way back to the hotel and the meeting point I was doing some serious observations and I observed a ´joven´ go slightly out of his way to step on a crunchy looking leaf. I thought that was great. I´m part of this group on facebook that´s called "I will go slightly out of my way to step on a crunchy looking leaf". I myself will do this but I ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands skivail89... pebbles and rocks of the sidewalk. We bought out tickets early Sunday morning and went right to the Alcazaba to start off – There weren´t very many people there that hour so we were able to each go on different towers of the castle about 50 feet apart and be alone on each one which made for some pretty cool photos with the city of Granada in the background. We then went to Palacíos de Nazaríes… ufff, impressive. This place was fabulous. No ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands juliannamargare... it´s a very small world afterall (I guess that **** ride at Disney was right). We then met up with Heather´s friends Herbie (wtf?) and Frank and they said we were going to a music festival. At this point it was already midnight, I was not close to being drunk and I was running low on cigarettes. I walk into some little bodega and start chatting up some olds, in Spanish of course. I am able to convice them to sell me a bottle of wine ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands jdcabanel... had been scorched. My shoulders, my stomach, my shins, me feet - oooh. I didn't have aloe so I doused the burns with hand cream. Earlier that day I checked a store for sunscreen but at 13 euros a bottle, I figured skin cancer would be cheaper. When 11pm rolled around, I thought I'd been forgotten, but of course this is just the Spanish way. Kim explained Spaniards affection for obscenely late nights staying out until the crack of dawn, was because under the fascist regimes they had ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mavsqb1... what we did to deserve such an unfortunate and wretched situation. My good friend Amanda entered the room, and the three of us enjoyed a hilarious rip session on how/why/and to what extent we got shafted with living quarters in Granada. After a brief period of complaining, we began to simply laugh at every little thing in the room, thus finding enjoyment out of not-so-good living quarters. Needless to say, we made it through the night alive and disease-free.
Granada, Spain jakester21... and feel other peopleś cultural paradigms when you work under pressure with them; how they view time, how they problem solve, how they ask for help (or do not ask for help), how they release stress. Even in the way we say hello to one another can be so drastically different and can create unintended divides between people. For instance, in the US, it is customary to shake a personś right hand when meeting or ...
Granada, Spain lifeadventures... to the Granada bus station and headed back to Jaén. I was really really happy to have secured a piso as we headed back home because we were traveling with a lot more people who were going to their towns with all their luggage, and I remembered what a pain it was to get my things from place to place when I first here. I am really hoping to be able to drop a lot of things at hope during my trips to the US before I come back for ...
Granada, Spain kwirky250... up for lunch with a nice Spanish guy named Daniel and his girlfriend Fatimah who directed me in the way of some interesting sights and streets in Granada. It is a great service, and I wish I would have discovered it earlier!! Anyway ..... the Alhambra was also fantastic ... and I was eventually sad to leave Granada. Off to Madrid for one day to see a friend, and then it's off to London, and I cannot wait to see my friends there!!
