Farewell to Crete

... yogurt, bread, jam, coffee and eggs - we didn't have all of it. We made our way to Agios Fortia which is a pretty beach with some remote private coves if you can be bothered with the trek. We were bothered, which included wading in the sea neck deep in water holding the bags high above our heads, but at least we were alone and largely undisturbed apart from the odd nosey bugger who obviously thought "where the hell are they going" and so swam out to see (sea). ...

Yassoo Olympos, Yassas Pighadia.

... Karpathos, specifically Olympos, actually means around 500 people. It's hardly Wembley. We spent the last day driving the jeep down the East coast stopping at Aleppa which was again beautiful with its turquoise clear waters, arriving in Pighadia, also known as Karpathos in the late afternoon. Well Maria is large, kinda width-wise but as short as the little Krankie but not as, well, cranky as I expected. You can see how some people wouldn't warm to her but we notched up the charm a few points and I think ...

Croquettes and packing

... with beer. So since last night was our last night here, we decided to order the croquettes. They were very interesting! They're shaped like logs about the size of an egg roll and they're essentially deep fried gravy. Not the healthiest food, but they were delicious. And we all thought it was hilarious to be eating Dutch food in Greece. Today we're headed to the ruins of Knossos, which was an ancient Minoan settlement and is also where ...
