    ... The pontes of course add to the beauty of the area. The town is only small and the area surrounding pisa and the associated religious buildings is literally swarming with tourists - quite incredible really as we have not seen this since leaving Rome. Pisa and the Duomo and surrounds are really quite lovely and the plush green velvet lawns make the sight even more outstanding. We are glad we took the time to visit.

    On Saturday, we took a day off the bike and traveled to Giglio Island, one of the largest islands of the Tuscan archipelago. There are hundreds of islands off the Tuscan coast. Elba is the largest while Montecristo is one of the most famous.
