As a thank you to all those who had helped me during my time in the DR, I decided to cook a roast dinner to say thank you. I had envisaged a small group in a relaxed atmosphere, but it got out of hand.

We don’t feel like walking back to the hotel, so we find a taxi parked at the side of the plaza. We are quoted RD$ 200.00 (about US$ 5.00).

“Too much!” asserts Margarita.

The taxi driver grudgingly accepts RD$ 150 (US$ 4). Peruvians!
