... 8221;. I had an assorted sampler appetizer for lunch for several reasons… it was one of three things I could find on the menu without seafood (and in the end it did have some fish in it!), I was saving room for dinner later and mostly because I had a Panna Cotta with my name on it this evening. So, I skipped the dessert ROOM. As we headed back to our table we heard a friendly “Hello”! It was our friend from the ferry who we came to learn ...

... fortunate enough to squish onto the second bus that went by, content to sit on the floor for the 50 minute trip to Positano. ... moment - that moment when this civilisation was put to the sword as if Vesuvius was an invading enemy. And of course, the centre of this reflection was the impact of this event on the people and particularly, the individual.

Our visit revealed that Pompeii was a thriving metropolis. Society was well defined. The houses ranged from impressive villas to modest homes. The premises of the merchants showed similar ranking. Theatres ...

... customers and which gave the street it's name! I thought that after the owners of ancient Greece I might find Pompei a bit of a letdown but it is hugely impressive. Highlight for me were the stucco art and the forum. After 2 hours in the heat we were ready to call it a day but took our time wandering back through the site. In the evening we walked into the attractive centre of modern Pompei and ate at a very friendly pizzeria off the main ...
