... You could see huge military parades taking place here. It was that type of square. Most of the pedestrianised route was a little shabby looking - if you were expecting boutiques and fancy restaurants, they must be elsewhere. Probably somewhere down in zone ten. Having enough of exploring the city for the day, I headed back over to the hostel as I definitely did not want to be out after dark.

Vampires are one thing. Inner city social issues another. You ...

... The guys were wonderful, supportive and encouraging. It took us 1.5 hours to do what those guys could do in 8 minutes!! All I kept thinking was, what if I wet my pants!!! That would have been so embarrassing!! You'll be glad to know that I didn't and I'm only a little sore in my arms today. I really noticed that I need to work on my upper body strength. ... bus away (try 7C).

We wanted to go from Santa Tecla to Suchitoto - which is nothing technical, just 2 buses and 3 hours of travel. After arriving and getting orientated, we wanted to find out about tours to see Cascada Los Tercios (waterfalls) and on a history tour to learn about the Civil War and the guerillas - FMLN. However, in the sleepy town of Suchitoto, the Tourism Office (which is closed from 12-1pm) opens 1 hour late! Luckily we had the ...

... to get into a yellow car which seemed like it was being held together by duck tape. It was by no means an official taxi. This was the moment I had to put my faith in humanity's hands. I got into the car, waved goodbye to the bus people and zoomed off into the dark of night, in a car that had seen better days with a guy who seemed friendly enough, but who spoke only Spanish and who just might not be an actual taxi driver. At least he seemed to be heading in ...
