... very high cliffs and sharp corners and then more cliffs and sharp corners!! We found a cafe for a coffee and croissant before joining a short line to purchase tickets to catching the boat to Capri. While we were waiting a kindly old man engaged us in conversation who offered to be our guide for the day and he adroitly outlined a programme for us using a combination of charming English, a map of Capri and a smile which would have charmed many a young ...

We also had a good look around the public baths of the ancient Romans and examined a plaster cast of a dead Pompeiian citizen, still with bones in place. Just as we reached the main city courtyard with all the remnants of the beautiful marble work pillars, having taken time to have a good look at a fancy villa, the clouds drifted away from Mt. Vesusius and we had a reasonably clean view. It was still very hazy, so none of the ...

... my bones! We found a shady spot and ate our picnic then walked back down to Capri to find the bus to Marina Piccolo where we intended to have a swim. The beach was made up of pebbles (of course) and was very small but it was lovely to cool off there. We then made our way by bus to Capri, caught the funicular down to the Jetty, caught the fast ferry to Positao, walked up to catch the bus to Praiano and then climbed the 70 steps to ...
