This morning I went for a run along the beach, before we set off on our day tour to Isla de la Plata. We went with an experienced travel company called Manchilla tours, $35 USD for a day tour of the island including whale watching, hiking, sea turtles, and snorkelling! The trip to the island was 40 km, about 1.5 hours. It is whale watching season right now in Ecuador fortunately and we spotted many humpback whales! We followed one pod of three whales closely for a long time and it was ...

... Nick's stallion was nipping at the other horses picking fights and not listening to him. By the time he caught up with me and a few of the others riding in front he let us know two people had quit because of his stallion upsetting the others. Nick was not too happy about his horse being so difficult and told me this was the last time he would be ridding. He ended up switching horses at the top of the mountain ...

... we are used to, and the meat is tougher, pork however, was similar to back home and was just as tender and tasty.

At the end of the shopping spree, we headed to the outdoor grill area outside the fish market. We ordered 'lunch' of a fresh grilled fish of various types, salad, a grilled plantain and a drink; all for $4! The fish was cooked slowly over the charcoal coals, was moist and salted to perfection. It was a treat we looked forward to.

... water. The water is a perfect temperature and we are able to walk out into the waves and cool off. After a few minutes of splashing around we retreat to the towels to try and give our tans we previously had, another hit of sunlight. The sun is seething and we don't last too long after flipping a few times and we head back up to the town to get some lunch. Leesh had eyeballed a healthy salad cafe and grabs a big bowl of nutritious and tasty salad before we ...
