... the last bus to the airport and would have to wait until the morning, nearly 6 hours away! I didn't know what to do! I didn't like the bus station and there was nothing to do here to pass the time. So I wrapped my bags around me and had a quick nap before deciding to bite the bullet and get in another taxi, which I hadn't done since I nearly died in one in Salvador! Once again, it was another Death Cab ride through the foul smelling late night slums of Rio, another sleep in ...
Praia do Forte, State of Bahia, Brazil mrsplaying_dead... confirmed by Brazillian friends of Dominic that he had been, quite decidedly kissing a man. He may have lost on numbers that night but he definitely took home the trophy. I myself was propositioned by a very cute English boy and while I declined anything further, he was very nice to kiss (although I was probably just an addition to his tally) ;) My last night bar one in Salvador was the highlight. Fat boy slim was playing in one of the blocos and while at ~$160AUD I couldn´t ...
Guarajuba, Brazil renard... pictures will follow soon! So yesterday evening there was a huge street party going on in the centre, the streets were just crowded and in every place there was live music playing... Samba, Forro and Salsa...a lot of crazy dancing going on, so really good fun! Today I´m having a relaxed day, it`s raining anyway and also I feel I`m coming down with a cold.... I have to check out where I´m going next as well, so this is a good opportunity.
Salvador de Bahia, Brazil kattiline... there were little kids doing it.... The kids are so cute over here! Might do an Angelina and get me one! Just kidding! I don´t have the space in my backpack for one! hehe. We took a few videos of the lesson but they were a bit ****, so I haven´t uploaded them. Just thought I´d add that little story..... It was cool cause they were no tourists watching (other than us obviously).... much better than the dances put on especially for the tourists! Anyway... moving on!
Praia do Forte, Brazil donne_0... Joao Nova Castella, this proudly British governed island that speaks a blend of hurried English, rose from the blue ocean. One is fooled into thinking that this pin prick in the globe is a dark and inhospitable bubble up of rock, when in fact it is home to the "Saints", friendly and warm accommodating people, and an interior of lush tropical forests. As we made our way along the coast to the main anchorage of James Bay, all we saw were the ruins of forts built by Chinese ...
Salvador, Brazil sparrow07We needed a few days to wind down and recover. Fortunately, we met a Brazilian guy from Sao Paulo, Roberto, on the plane. It just so happened that he was going to Carnival and he surfed! I slept the whole plane ride but Derek and Roberto chatted it up. We were able to ...
Salvador, Brazil davejin... where my parents were staying, so i didnt arrive until 4am. The next day I stated getting used to the life of riley, free booze, food and all the other nice things you could wish for, including free windsurfing....tops. After a couple of daty of doing nothing I took a local bus into Salvador, but missed my connection back, ended up having to take three local buses and a taxi to get back, as the resort is miles from nowehere. It was lucky I meet a local girl from ...
Costa Do Sauipe, Salvador, Brazil hodge... The first night I was fortunate enough to land an abadá, a t-shirt that serves as your entry into the ropes, for the well known Camisinha Bloco (for those of you non-Portuguese speakers, that means the Condom Bloco). Every year the Ministery of Health hosts this particular bloco and gives away millions of free condoms to the lustful crowds at Carnaval. The woman that I was renting a room from was kind ...
Salvador da Bahia, Brazil cori42... best nights of my trip. I`ll talk about Rio`s Carnivale later but pales in comparison. If you are thinking of going to Brasil for Carnivale then go to Salvador. The city itself is brilliant, old yet modern, clean and great infrastructure, crime needs work but they are working on it. Carnivale had 21,000 police on duty!!! Met some great people and hung out with them. The people i met in Cabucu came to Salvador to hang with me until i left.... brilliant!
