    We are finished with day 1 of our hike! Beautiful scenery the whole way. This portion of the hike followed a single lane paved road for about half the day so it didn't feel remote.     Day 3 We left our comfy lodging and walked uphill but only for a kilometre before we then hit the snow and started going down hill. The small drifts weren't too bad to get across, but the longer ones were easier if you sort of skied/skated down. John got it sorted pretty quickly, and was down each drift in no time, but I did this sort of awkward snow plough in hiking boots, that had me out of control most of the time. Then of course we met them at dinner, and he showed me a picture of him with her on his shoulders, each still with their packs on. I told him I had changed my nickname to Superman.
