I'm swinging in the rain..

The ride back to San Jose was now becoming the norm. This time my stop over in the City was for only 10 hours, just enough time to update the blog and catch 7 hours of sleep before an early bus to Cahuita.

Cahuita is a one road village south of Puerto Limon on the Caribbean coast. A town past built from afro-caribbean settlers arriving from Jamaica, the people hold strong to their ...

... so they can build a Temple, instead of using the community building in Limon. They also have a food bank to help those in need within the community, school supplies for the children, and food for the homeless. The 16th is a breakfast fund-raiser for the Temple, and the 21st is soup for the homeless. There are presently 5 Bible studies going on in the surrounding neighborhoods and are led by members of the church in their private homes. Shalom church meets on Saturday nights ...

Zipping about in Monteverde

... thought of going through and not knowing where the end ended ... like omg! I was told after that it was about 600m in zipping and it was high above the jungle. Eva was infront of me ... and I saw her only for a few seconds and then she disappeared into the clouds ... in my head I was like sh*t! I should get a taxi (a taxi is one of the professionals to go zip with you in tandum). But I got all this way here on my own with my nerves so just do it! That's what I kept ...

Battle of the bulge.

... to find them. A quick over priced taxi scam on our arrival in San Jose, saw us in a reasonable hostel in a dorm with the Frenches from the bus, who were high tailing it through the Country also. The bunk bed in a small windowless room with 6 other people was about the most money we´d spent on accommodation so far this trip. Giving you an idea of Costa Rica´s inflated cost. To cut it short. We were up and away early to Cahuita ...

Long and Crazy Trip

... to 9:30, so I went back to my hotel to wait for the van, which was 5 minutes early and waiting for me. The driver was a nice Tico named Luis but he didn't speak any English so we had little to discuss :) We drove the 15 km to the Sloth Sanctuary where I had a 30 minute private tour until a large tour bus arrive and I joined them.. The sanctuary is owned by an American (from Alaska) and her Tico husband. They have had 230 acres of ...

A mellow Jungle canoe ride... and Monkey pee

... on, I really kept my eyes open for the action directly overhead. (not that I have ever seen a linebacker pee...just speculating here) I came back exhausted but still squeeked out an hours worth of bogey boarding on small waves. Then I promptly konked out in a hammock in a total "Corona moment"... light breeze, waves gently washing ashore, and I swingin' in the shade about 50 feet away from them. Internet is out in the village this ...

Camping in Cahuita
