E um primo mais simples do Copacabana Palace. Foi remodelado ha pouco tempo e esta muito bonito. Tem uma vista linda da baia de Maputo. O quarto e bem espacoso e confortavel. Tudo limpo. Lencois de fios egipicios. Servico muito bom, com funcionarios sempre atenciosos.

... our guide was the “oldest, most emblematic and historical neighbourhood of Maputo City”. There we took a voyeuristic, 3-hour walking tour. Our guide, Ivan Laranjeira, even rationalized our voyeurism for us. Sandy arranged the tour through e-mail. (Tourism could be a second career for Sandy. She is very, very good at it.) Ivan wrote that the walking tour “is part of a community development program” run ...

... someone tells you you're going to a beach resort by the Indian Ocean. What image does that conjure up? Think about it a while. Personally. Have images of snazzy upmarket resort along the lines of Comandatuba near Salvador, Brasil. Google it. (They thought we were hotel inspectors the last time we went - but that's another story for another blog). Plans for today are to find a quiet corner. Catch up on diary. Write blog. With the free Wifi access. Oh ...

    ... children.

As one walks along the streets or drive by traffic lights and corners you cannot help but notice old women, men (young and old), and little boys as young as 5 years old begging for money. This is not an uncommon scenario, but recently it has become more depressing. Apart from the increase in street beggars and homeless people, their facial expressions have changed portraying ...

... got lighter... but we still had fun dancing on the beach!

After a quick power nap, packing our bags and Declan wildly hunting for the passport he thought he had lost, our friendly taxi driver picked us up again and dropped us at the airport, where we went to our favourite South African restaurant for non-South African food (I think that was 6th time..), before boarding our plane. Yet again we were flying on Kulula airways, who like to make a joke out of very ...
