... the check in process was exceptionally smooth and before we knew it we were on board and in cabin 7167 which looked over Athens. We had a few hours walking around familiarising ourselves with the decks and had lunch in the Lido restaurant. At 20:30 we went to our allocated seating time for dinner and met our new table buddies for the trip. ... late! It was also packed to the gunnels. Hang in there Gibbs! The bus disgorged its bubbling mix of international travellers and we all trooped up the gangway and dutifully had our photos taken with a couple in national costume. Mine are not for public consumption!
Anyway, by this time I am reconciled to my fate for the day and find a quiet spot, put my feet up and let the view take over. First stop was at ...
... The angoras were small markets where Athenians would sell pottery, jewelry etc... Most of it was in ruins but you could see where things would have been. The ancient agora was huge. They had council buildings, government buildings and small shops. They had completely recreated the south stoa which was really cool. It was huge and had beautiful wooden beams and marble floor. We walked through the small town but it was so hot we didn't go to every nook ...
... laughing. I was full on crying with laughter. It was 38-degree heat and we had just lugged our luggage for miles and we were in that exhausted silly funny mood. We walked another km or so until we sat down for a rest. Then I spotted our hotel just across the road! Woo hoo! We raced up and cranked up the aircon. We thought we would follow suit with the girls and stay in our hotel after all the horror stories they told us but after a couple of hours, we couldn’t resist ...
... Verizon. Tonight was formal night. Seems formal does not mean coat and tie anymore. In the diner I counted maybe 2 suits, but no shorts were allowed. My dress up included tennis shoes and was allowed in. After dinner entertainment is the Graffiti musical show in the theater. No pics allowed, but got the screen ...
