Let's say, I locate myself in Ayia Napa, then the distance to the rest of the areas in Cyprus could easily be characterized as….close!
I would in other words need 8km to Protaras, 41km to Larnaca, 80km to Nicosia, 107km to Limassol, 147km to Paphos and 210km to Polis/Latchi.
... all big bags here in Athens till we get back from the islands. Oh the joy that can be felt once those bags are in locked storage. Only carry on luggage for the next 12 days. Its the little things that make your day.
We went out to get some food for dinner since we haven't eaten since breakfast this morning. WE end up at a Greek taverna round the corner from the hotel. Chicken souvlaki for Connor and me, lamb for the aunties. Add some tatziki, broccoli and carrots, ...
Today I walked around Athens and met many people and took many pictures. I learned some more myths and legends about Athens that you wouldn't find in the history book. I went to see the Panathenaic Stadium, which is a race track opened in 566 BC, and is still used today! The first modern Olympics were held in it in 1896 AD! I also went to see the Stoa of Attalos, A huge build project by King Attalos II Of Pergamon. Stoa was originally built in 150 BC. And that was my day.
We spent a day in Athens 2 years ago - we were on a cruise - and liked it so much, we wanted to see more!
We were worried that we might not have time to drive from Liverpool to Gatwick to catch our 1440 flight to Athens - we had planned to be travelling from Southampton! So, we broke our journey with an overnight stop in High Wycombe which gave us a more relaxed and, thankfully, uneventful journey.
