    The decision in the morning was to visit the Medieval walled city of Piran in the morning, search out a beach for the boys in the afternoon, and spend the evening on the sea wall near the apartment. Piran is only a short distance from where we spent the night, but it is a restricted area so only residences and local buses are allowed past the gates.     After descending, we tour the various rooms of the Bishop's Palace - one that seems totally out of place with more "modern" baroque interior design with mint green walls. Continuing through another room displaying period clothing and on to an window overlooking the famous mosaic floor that is exposed outdoors, but roped off for protection.

    ... the hilltops. Then we rounded the last turn and there was the parking lot full of tour buses that had come up the other road. Oh, and the castle sitting in the mouth of a cave as the guide book had said it would. It was spectacular, and required that many photos be taken even before we got into it.
