Road Trip to La Serena!

... the next bus leaving at 11am which means we arrive early evening.

The TurBus was excellent. The seats were big and plush and reclined. Everything was really clean and they even catered on board! I am shocked with how people appear to eat here. It seems like a lot of junk food and softdrink. On the bus they gave us all diet coke instead of water to drink.

Scenery was stunning but very harsh. Rocks, mountains ...

... going at 1.30pm. Arrived in San Pedro couple of hours later, very hot, wandered round in circles as no street names and misleading directions to hostel. Finally got directions from someone on the main street and found Hostel Mamatierra, ended up with beds in different dorms for the first night. ... time, Guayacán Golden Ale. I also got the chance to try Pisco with local Papaya which is different than the Papaya we see in the UK. This was nice too. There was a large group of dogs howling and having sex on the street outside which was funny too.

Due to the delay in this “quick snack”, the original plan of heading off to an Observatory was cancelled and we headed back to our hotel for a quick nightcap and some well earned kip. ...

... brown rocky with bigger mountains in the east. It was pleasant. No animals running around. I did get some glimpses of houses with their corrugated tin roofs held down with big rocks and bits of metal. I don't think I took any photos of them though.

Can't think of anything else and Astrid is already asleep and I need to go to bed too since I am writing this up a day later and need to get ready for Wednesday's trip to the salar de atacama.
