Everyone we have met told us Chile would be expensive. Our hopes of this being an exaggeration diminished as soon as we hit our first Chilean town of San Pedro de Atacama. Our budget cringed when we discovered we would have to pay double that of what we have been paying for accommodation and almost triple that of food. We stopped for two nights in the small town in the middle of the desert which is the border checkpoint between Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Because of this, the ...

... offer. It seems a little sad, but we haven't seen a proper supermarket since Peru.

We found a cheapish sushi place for dinner with a promo on Chinese Tsing-tao beer. The beer was good and the sushi wasn't bad so all in all,we left happy.

Rach bought a hotdog while I bought some pollo viennas and bread rolls to make hotdogs with when we got back to the hostal. When we got back, Rach and Ash picked up their nice smelling clothes from the laundry. Not gonna lie - I was pretty jealous. As we cooked dinner the lady found ways to watch us as we cooked! Super awks but ok. We then ...

We arrived in La Serena (5 hours from Copiapo) later on that day for Sam’s final sleep in his 20s. Founded in 1544, La Serena is Chile’s second oldest city and is blessed with neo-colonial architecture, 29 churches, (thankfully) shady streets and golden shores. After a leisurely morning, we ...
