    ... of birds including a cuckoo that goes on continuously like a record with a scratch. Way to perfect.

    Our accommodation is a gorgeous 2 bedroom log cabin with kitchen and balcony looking through the forest to the bluest river in the World. They keep goats, who escape often.     Another glorious day weather wise, a high of 28c predicted and the morning sun augurs well. We set off early to walk along the lakeside whilst it is still fairly cool and reach the far end of the lake after a steady 30 minutes. We walk as far as Vila Bled which Tito used as his holiday villa back in the day. It is being readied for a flower festival so we don't visit but sit at a lakeside cafe for a surprisingly good coffee whilst watching the "pletna" boats. ...

    ... as a gateway between Eastern and Western Europe and has suffered political strife and hardship as a result.
