    ... hour or so. Our tickets and passports are checked shortly after the first stop, and the French train manager notes that we are a long way from home. There are 3 stops between Paris and the French-Italian boarder, being Lyon, Chambery and Modane, before we pass through a tunnel in the mountains that signals our entry into Italy around 12.30pm. By this time the train is running around 25 minutes late due to scheduling to fit in trains coming in the opposite direction.
