... the cathedral we visited the museum and then the grand arch (which was actually a huge shopping arcade). I can say huge with some satisfaction since there were binoculars set into the marbled floor at several intervals so that you could better look down the corridors of wealth and power. All the big names were here: Versace, Prado, Louis Vuitton..etc. For ***** and giggles we went into each of the above mentioned shops - way out of my price range - but its nice to ...

... t be bothered waiting that long.

  • The train ride was pretty spectacular and the railway is listed as a UNESCO site.
  • At Tirano I found my way to the train station by asking around in Spanish.
  • You had to buy tickets from the cafe at the train station and the trains were certainly a step down from the ones I had been riding in Switzerland.
  • I walked around Tirano for about 15 minutes and then walked back ...

... of me and looks really nice in it. Back home again via Metro/then train/then boat trip. Sad to see Como for the last time – it is very pretty. On the boat trip back to Cernobbio we saw the sea plane fly and land in the water – looks like fun. A stop for bread and a gift and now we have been ironing, packing etc. So far we are really enjoying Italy – people are friendly, polite and helpful and several locals are saying my Italian is good – ...
