Hotel Splendid where we are staying at Lake Maggiore is just that. We are all feeling very luxurious, from the bar to our rooms. Today we drive back to Lake Como and rather than do the boat tour of the lake, which is really a who's who of palatial homes. We hopped on ...

My guess is that the truth is somewhere in the middle... We chat a bit more, I tell him of some of my adventures wandering the Nile delta... then I continue on my way. I love how my travels become so interconnected... my Alps hike is now connected with my Egypt adventure of ...

Day 274 1 hr, 1 km With the steep, wooded mountainside to my left and a valley that is quickly narrowing to my right it's only a few hundred meters and I'm in the next town, Messe. I know that the uphill climb is getting close, including my big goal: to cross the Splugenpass from Italy to Switzerland on foot. I know it was just planted here for the warm months, but seeing a banana tree in someone's yard just feels really unappropriate. C'mon folks, this is the ...
