... the Grand Canal and the smaller neighborhood canals. We constantly were lost in the mazes of homes, some only 3 ft from the next row of town homes, only to wind up back on a canal or a bridge. Constant feast for the eyes. Around every bend, another flower-festooned housefront, another ornately carved bridge arching over a misty canal, another chapel door with wrought handles.

Well at least we can say now that we have travelled on a sleeper train. It was certainly an experience. The service was indifferent, the bedding was stained, although clean.

We boarded at 8pm and shown our cabin. The boys found it great fun and it was a novelty. Each cabin slept 6, although it was certainly cozy enough with just us 4. The boys wanted the two top fixed bunks.Craig and I had the middle bunks, that coverted from the back of the seats. The bottom two ...

... be a bit tricky when you are in a different country! I think I would like to learn to speak a different language when I get home. I wonder which one would be most useful? I will be able to teach you how to say hello and thank you in quite a few different languages when I get back. They are the first words we learn when we get to each country and come in pretty handy. ... with our luggage on our backs we kept on heading to the hotel.

20 minutes later we got to the hotel. It was amazing we found it given the small sign and that is located 2 flights up!
