crowds usually queue for hours but luck is on our side and it's in and up to the outer balconies for us. The interior of the church is phenomenal. Loved the mosaic interior and the history attached. The architecture is beautiful and you even get to walk around the upper balcony to observe the outside(and the view). Fabulous tapestries adorn the walls of one of the halls - totally amazing how they were hand crafted so many centuries ago. ...

Last day tomorrow. Hard to believe it is here already! Tomorrow’s day is revealed and we are going to take a cooking class from one of Rome’s Cooking Channel stars including shopping in the market etc. Very excited about this but another early start… which I could have done without! Best part? Internet Again! Let the uploading begin!

... or so the sign said) and spent an hour lost in old books, art prints, and postcards. It was amazing! The store often floods, so the books are piled high in boats, gondolas, and bathtubs. Even the kids found some books to bring home.

We took a gondola ride and Abby finally got the Venetian mask she has been wanting since we were in Rome! It was a great day!

... TV move called Marco Polo. Gabriele talked with the guard to find out more about it before we continued on our way. The church of Madonna was pretty but the ceilings weren't painted or even vaulted, they just had plain wooden beams. From the church we took a boat to the Arsenal, which we could only see from the outside, and then walked toward San Marco's square. We took another boat back toward our apartment, bought some food for dinner and then took it easy for the rest of the evening. ...

... trying to get to the Rialto Bridge and ended up in a quiet area with very few tourist. Lisa asked a local at a newsstand how to get to the train, and he said, "Take a second right and then a left". That second right was so narrow it was as dark as night at 4 in the afternoon, and only five people passed us the other way. Once we made that left we were back in the masses.
