Hey everyone! I am doing just fine here. The climate suits me just fine, feels like good ol'GA. I've been stuck in this swanky hotel called the Hotel Camino Real here in Managua. Today I got some immunizations and the other trainees and I played ultimate frisbee and swam in the pool. There is some awesome food here in the hotel, better not get used to it! Food pics are on the way. All the folks I've met so far are incredibly awesome. I also had my language test today and I actually used the p...

... when I hopped off in the capital, Managua, I didn’t know what to do. <br> Except for light and interrupted dozes on the bus, I hadn’t slept for about 28 hours and got of the bus in a hazy state. All of a sudden I was surrounded by annoying locals trying to take me to different hotels. I ignored them and repeated the words “no” enough times for the swarm to disperse. I took my Lonely Planet out to look for a map and some nearby hotels ...
Managua, Nicaragua jaspergreene... craic. Two brothers, Matt and Omri who have been travelling about the same time as us and are heading in more or less the same direction. Howard walked us back to our hostel and as we´re at the door Brian decides he wants more beers. Doireann doesn´t sleep a wink until he gets home three hours later! I was imagining terrible things. He toddled in the door anyway, safe and sound and informed me that he´d found and named ...

Granada, Nicaragua micheleen... with lots of people wanting you to buy stuff from their little shop and with kids running around asking you to buy what they had in their hands. This was the only part of the trip that I truly felt stressed. I was not a huge fan of the market! I think the main problem was that I am horrible at making decisions, and I had no idea what I wanted to buy and how much I wanted to buy… so the overload of options ...
Managua, Managua, Nicaragua cainja6... dirty. I was covered in green paint, concrete, sweat, stench, and bug spray. Yummmy. This is when I decided that it was time.... it was finally time to take my braids out. My scalp was flaking and it was just to gross to handle. So I took out my braids with the help of like all of my classmates, who were almost just as excited as I was to take it out and see what it looked like. It was frightening. I was also really scared because of the enormous amount of ...
Managua, Managua, Nicaragua cainja6... was once removed for the concept of slash and burn agriculture. The trees were small reminders of how not how I visiting a new country but I got to help out the environment as well. Each handful of cold dark earth felt like an honor. I felt, in that moment, a sense of accomplishment that one day those small baby trees would become towering giants and would one day help us reclaim the forests for their natural purpose which is to contribute to the circle of life and ...
Costa Rica, Central America taylorashby... in the street and I told him about it and he said the woman would give it to us the day after...and I believed it again. But, can somebody explain me how I am so fool?Anyhow, as we were thinking in stealing one hamaca to compensate, we saw the woman and asked her. She told us it was not the first time that boy did it, and she gave us the money and said she would discount it from the boy's ¨Salary¨. So, in Granada. In my opinion, is the most beautiful city ...
Granada, Georgia, Nicaragua ncirauqu... to our bruised egos at a beautiful local swimming hole. The next day, through a series of busses, boats and cabs, we managed to find our way back to our paradise in Playa Flamingo, ignoring the cab driver who irately insisted that it was impossible to get a bus back to Costa Rica that day, but assured us that he could get us there for a small fee... Stumbling back into paradise that night, we had the best sleep of the trip thus far!
Granada, Nicaragua chadsteph... signs and got a scolding. We took a short hike to the summit for pictures and I really enjoyed getting into natural area and taking a hike. Spending all day on the bike gives little time for any exercise. I suffer from leg and foot cramps now like I have never had. I miss exercise! Yea, Ill get over it as soon as I find the couch and remote. Well I have ridden over 4,500 miles now and have completely worn ...
