Kyle's 30th birthday turned out to be an incredible day. We started off with the hotel bringing him a cake and singing to him during breakfast. Then we decided to take an adventure to the island's most famous beach. We drove for an hour and a half south through the mountains, much of it on the edge of a huge gorge. ... rained on leaving the Nida Plateau.

Ok, back up. While sulking in the taverna, a foreign couple sat next to my table. Before I left I gave them the little confections Gabriela gave me. I figured she'd be proud of me for paying it forward. Zeus, however, was none too pleased.

In my pictures you'll see some ominous cloud cover along the aborted hike. They'd grown darker and more voluminous since then. I felt a rain drop on my ...

... a monastery, and did have a bit of an olive oil tasting, but did not see olive mills, vineyards, or any wine/raki tasting, nor did we get to Rethymnon. It was unclear if it was a complete schedule change (from our request to change days), or due to the intense rain that we could not get to what was planned. The guide was very good, but lunch in a restaurant was a bit different from what we ...
