Our rooms in Chania are not quite as spacious as those in Zaros. In Zaros, we had an upstairs and a downstairs, a lounge room and an outdoor deck (we were very spoilt!).

So today, as we really don't have space to work except in bed, we are sitting at an outdoor café, overlooking the harbour, catching up on correspondence, bill payments and the blog. Oh yes, very tough :-)

We had clear blue skies for the first few days ...

We arrived in Chania (pronounced Harn-ya) on Saturday. Despite initially thinking otherwise, we hired a car to drive from Zaros to Chania; wheeling all our luggage (65kg) 1.5km to get to the bus stop in Zaros at 6am was too hard!

At the end of a long day, we dropped into the café. Upstairs, there is a massage chair and for 2 euro, 8 minutes of pummelling, kneading, vibrating, squeezing and rolling is provided. I could not resist, with cup of peppermint tea in hand, spending another 2 euro on another 8 minutes. Andrew also spent some time in the chair and we agreed, BEST massage chair of all ...

... to see Knossos what with it's legend and history, however finding that a lot of the location had been reconstructed (although expected) was a little disheartening. The tour guide was also good (I guess) but it was a little like being back at school. It was still enjoyable, nevertheless.

Spinalonga is the most picturesque island imaginable. Its history is chilling as you keep it in mind walking around the island in exploration. ...
