Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Calypso Benidorm
Brilliant! Will definitely stay there again!
Have just returned to the UK from Benidorm. On arrival to Hotel Calypso, we were checked in without any hassle whatsoever!! The staff was very professional and very helpful! The facilities was very satisfactory and our room was cleaned as often and when we wanted! Truly relaxing hoiliday!
Bring me Sunshine
Stayed at the Hotel Calypso with some friends a couple of years ago and loved almost everything about Hotel, Immaculte everywhere, Food Great staff wonderful only fault all single rooms which came at higher cost were in the shade and had no Sun at all so no balcony time. This was in October but wondered why all single rooms should be in shade
Over 50s only
nice clean and efficient, but not for the younger person. stayed for a week in november and the average must have been about 50-65. if your looking for a quiet hotel to unwind this is the place
First class
both myself and my husband travelled abroad for the first time in our 60 odd years, this nov 04 so we did not know where to go, we chose the calypso hotel in benidorm and what a fantastic week we had, we could not fault the hotel, rooms, meals, etc etc everything was super, so we can't wait to go back in 2005.
First class
this hotel is great for age group 40s upwords, situated in a fairly quete spot, but most of all this hotel is spotless clean plus good food,i can highly recommended this hotel, if you like dancing this is the place for you. r clayton.
Nice break
my husband and i stayed for three nights for our first anniversary end of september 04. clean hotel rooms were very basic entertainment was good, although its more aimed at families. we went half board, breakfast was appauling so we ate out however evening meal was ok if you dont mind queing outside the restaurant! would probably go again but with the children for a week
Great
Great location if your up for a lively time. The staff i spoke to were helpfull, understood what i asked them. Initially was dubious abou the swipe card system in your room to enable lighting etc as you only had one card, but after a few days the cleaners left an extra swipe card in my room so that the air con could be on all the time, i think you could request an extra card fom reception though. Food was good nothing spectacular, offering a varied spanish and english buffet each night. If you require a fridge try to hire with your travel agent or on your first day in the hotel as there is quite a long waiting list for this. Would go again.
A great hotel
After just spending 2 weeks at the Calypso hotel (14 august 28 august 2004) this hotel is immaculate. Rooms cleaned, beds made, fresh towels everyday. A/C in rooms maybe a little on the loud side but very much needed, staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms a little on the small side but comfortable. The best thing about this hotel has got to be the food, there is something for everyone and every day a differrent menu.
Pool area, the pool is small but adequate, also pool area spotless plenty of sun loungers. Hope you have a great holiday as we did.
Great Hotel
Went to the Calypso Hotel end June beginning July. We was a mixed crowd, 60sh 50ish 30ish and 20 ish. Thought the hotel was very clean, maid service daily. Food very nice, we were full board ate there most of the time. Location excellent. Although in the heart of it all , not too noisy at night, saying that, we was never in bed before 3 a.m. Entertainment in hotel not our cup of tea, but didn't care, went out every night. All in all, would definately stay there again.
Not for couples in their 20's/early 30's
The Staff at this Hotel seem very anti-English. They make out that they are unable to understand what you are telling them which is utter nonsense - they understand every word! They are not prepared to be helpful if the truth be known. The cleaners are rude and talk VERY LOUDLY!
The set up in the rooms is not ideal either- the electric is supplied by inserting a card into a meter which makes you feel like a council tenant!- not a brilliant prospect as this hotel is definately not on the cheap side. The hotel has air conditioning which is only piped to the rooms when as long as your card is in the meter. And guess what.... the cleaners remove the cards everyday and take it out of the rooms so you have to keep running back to reception to collect another and complain about them! What is the point in having air conditioning if this is what people are going to do!?! Take your own beach towels as their towel service is terrible. The rooms are kept clean and the food is ok, but you may have to que a long while for this! All in all not the friendliest place to stay and definately not cheap. Watch out for the lifts with dodgy noises and the reps are no where to be found and if you do find them they will do bugger all to assist.
The family was promised that they could hire a fridge from reception at the time of booking the holiday - this was a lie, again not brilliant for families with very small children who need milk etc.
Decent enough pool and amenities. But poor staff service and entertainment very lousy. (Try Majorca instead!)
