Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel Calinda Geneve Mexico City

Excellent hotel

from Oceansiders
This was our first trip to Mexico City. The hotel was first class. We were surprised how well decorated and administered it was. It was very clean and well kept. Our room was clean and quiet. It had a high ceiling and a marble floor in the bathroom. It had two, large, very comfortable beds. I would definitely stay here again. The Zona Rosa location was very convenient to the Metro. I was very pleased with the entire experience with one tiny exception: The towels were replaced every morning. They were nice, big, fluffy ones. However, for two people, they only left one face towel. The front desk was very accommodating and they give us another one but we had to ask every night. If that is the only complaint then it is a good deal! Stay there. You will like it.

Near Insurgentes Metro stop - Great Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Rooms were large, clean, and included a sofa bed. Bathroom was large and very nice. No iron or ironing board - I think its a municipal code but not sure. You can also drink the water in this hotel.

This hotel is located in the Zona Rosa. Its 2 blocks from the Insurgentes Metro stop. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel - one belonging to the hotel and another is a Sanbornes Restaurant. There are restaurants, a shopping mall, a Sanbornes, and internet cafe on the street.

Its a 5 minute walk to the Angel de la Independencia monument.

I'd stay in this hotel again.

Clean, Convenient and Classy at a Good Price

from argento79
I would say the Calinda is one of the best options for a Mid Range hotel in Mexico City. The room was not terribly expensive at about $90 a night and the location was perfect. Although the Zona Rosa can get a little "festive" at night, this should be considered a plus as there are plenty of bars and restaurants around for your entertainment pleasure. The lobby of the Calinda is nice with a Sanborns restaurant built right in. One of the most convenient features of this was being able to charge meals directly to our room! Sanborns also operates a shop built right into the hotel complete with pharmacy and a large magazine selection. The service at the hotel was outstanding. The room was not huge but comfortable with a safe and mini bar. Overall a great experience.

Great hotel

This hotel is great!

It has a wonderful location, multilingual staff, comfortable beds, and large rooms.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Safe and Comfortable

from travelike
Good location, near restaurants, money changers and shopping. Safe area, good taxis and guides (ask for Israel Mendoza). Walk to Touribus and subway. Interesting marketplace nearby. Also Starbucks, McDonalds, 7-11s and Popeyes (really). Two hotel restaurants. Clean room, purified water, bar, helpful staff. ATM in hotel shop. I would recommend it and stay there again.

Nice room, location, and price

from jakely8
We stayed at this hotel for one night only (as that's all the time we had in Mexico City). The location can't be beat for such a short time in the city. It is in a very charming, safe part of the Zona Rosa, many restaurants and shops nearby. It is close to Reforma also, and you can walk just about to any of the popular places in the city.

The room itself was basic but quite large. We had a couch, desk, and dresser, along with a mini-bar and two beds. The bathroom was clean and ample. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a reasonable price, in a central location.

Enjoyed Vacation

Stayed there in Nov 2004 on the 4,5 and again on 13,14,15 again great , The company which made my reservation messed up, however the Mgr on Duty and his staff got me a room on all the requested dates, even though they were close to capacity, would again stay there on future trips

Nice hotel

I've stayed in several Mexico City hotels, but this is the only one in the Zona Rosa that I've tried. I've stayed here four times and each time I had a nice stay. Though not elegant, it has charm and the staff is eager to please. Rooms vary--I've had some really nice ones and one with a really strange layout. The hotel is very convenient for Zona Rosa attractions, not to mention coffee shops, cybercafes, and even office supplies.

A nice place to stay

This was a nice hotel to stay at. The rooms were clean, the restaurant food good, and well priced, the staff was friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again.

The Hotel Calinda Geneve

This is a delightful small hotel in the heart of the Zona Rosa. I frequently use it for business stays in Mexico City. If you are looking for a high-rise, "glass and brass" faceless accomodation, this is not your place, but if you are looking for a cozy older hotel with real character; a very accomodating staff, and a location within walking distance of great restarurants in the Zona Rosa, then this is your hotel!
