There are two hanok villages in this area. Andong's is an arranged one. Houses that were going to be flooded because of dams built in the vicinity were taken to this model village in the outskirts of the city. But although the setting is nice, it is as dead as the palaces of Seoul.

... right to the ticket office! He got out and helped me be understood at the ticket office and I asked to leave my backpack in the ticket office. Then, horrified to see a million different school parties of kids about to go to the cave, I got a bat on and hurled myself up the 2kms hill to the cave. ... there are no shops in the village. There was a free shuttle to take us the km to the village but they were really packing people in so we decided to walk to take in the sights.

Along the way we saw some tree carvings made to resemble the mask faces and other characters. We also noticed 'rude male objects' carved and the more we looked the more we noticed.
