We only have one full day in Bonifacio, arriving late yesterday afternoon, and leaving tomorrow morning for a couple of days in the northern mountains of Corsica. So today had to be the day we experienced as much as we could. We had checked out boat tours (no name tags, no numbered stickers on our shirts!!) to get have a look at Bonifacio from the water. There are a multitude of tours to pick from, some all-dayer's ...

... with the switch from Italian to French. I really find Italian easy to understand and read - French? No bloody idea. We spent our last hours in Sardinia driving North West to a small town called Santa Teresa where the ferry left from. A really very beautiful little town, and nowhere near as many big yachts as there have been everywhere else. Had a great lunch there: margarita pizza, beer, $10. Of course Roger offered to ...

Within minutes of arriving on the French Island of Corsica, we noticed a big difference from Italy. The roads are organised, sign posted and in comparison to Sicily the cars are massive...and newer. There is hardly any rubbish by the side of the roads (& there are even recycling bins). First hand proof that there are some benefits to paying taxes.... and less organised crime over the centuries probably helps as well! It's now the last week of ...

... re used to. No waves and no tidal movement, certainly none that's noticeable. The water is warm and crystal clear. I found myself surrounded by whiting and garfish - a whole new meaning to the well known phrase "swimming with the fishes"!!! The beach was well supported by a very organised crew of about 7-8 souvenir sellers. They seemed to have worked a synchronised rotation of beaded jewellery, sarongs, scarves, dresses, ...

... surprising. It doesn't feel like Italy, and it doesn't look like Italy. We are staying in the top North East section of the Island, and spent today exploring the local area. There are marinas a'plenty here - very small, very boutique and interesting. Some have lots of really expensive yachts and others just have smaller rich men's runabouts. Most of the marinas have cafes, bars and restaurants. Not too many ...
