Had a lovely day out with Neeltje and Jitze to Ameland. Travelled from Donkerbroek to the take the ferry across to Ameland. Morning tea at Ness and then off on the bike to Oerd, a large complex of dunes +24 meters high and marsh and rich with rare plants and bird life. Also a beautiful white sand beach on the ...

Perfect weather for a day trip to Leeuwarden. Saskia showed me around the old centre. We rode around and found the market, a Tea and Ceramic Museum, a nice place by the canal and in the sunshine to have lunch. Then onto a boat to cruise the canals and see the historic building ...

I found the right train with one change at Zwolle and then Rosa met me at Groningen train station.

It is great to be here and it is sunny and warm!

So this hotel, apparently some Dutch queen used to live there, and now it's a hotel. Beautiful old building built in the 1700s (I think), our room is like a tiny apartment, I can't imagine how much it costs. ...

Went to a waterpark in Groningen today. It had a waterslide and I think we went down it fifty times! When we went grocery shopping we used these cool scanning things to add your things up as you shop. Every sauce in Holland seems to have mayonnaise in it. Later in the day we went op-shopping and I found an awesome purple suit. Watched world cup football on the TV that ...
