We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.
We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!
... quick sites and then jumped back to Switzerland, crossed through Austria for an hour or so, and bam, were back in Germany, hehe....
Now I'm at Sebastian's brother's house, where we will go to sleep soon and visit München tomorrow...
abrazos!
... can watch all the processes they go through to make the cheese, which was pretty interesting! We watched the cheese-makers go through all the processes for quite a while and had a drink at in the restaurant before going back to Gossau for an authentic cheese Fondue!
We got up early the next morning and said goodbye to Heinz and Elsa, and caught our 1st train to get to Prague. It took us about 10.5 hours to get there.. LOOOOOONG time sitting on trains!!
Yes Indeeed. The sun was up early and bright. No fear of rain. The hotel breakfast was quite an array. Select all or nothing. It was all laid out...Cereal, yoghurt, juice, coffee, tee, various breads, spreads, cured ham, hard boiled eggs, cheese. It all comes with the price of the room, so go for it. Yeah, I did. It is going to be a calorie burning day.
I was out ...
Our third stop of the day was our first in Austria. Now I was entering undiscovered lands! Feldkirch is right on the Switzerland border. The old town centre is surrounded by towers, and a castle sits on a hill above.
We explored Feldkirch and a few of its towers. The old town is quite charming with its colorful buildings, trickling fountains, and small shops. When we tried to ...
Our next stop was St Gallen, home of a beautiful abbey with a medieval library and neighbouring by a charming Old Town. We walked around the abbey exterior before everyone went inside, with the exception of Lincoln and I. I have been here before and know it is a very ornate baroque design inside.
Next, we walked to the abbey library which houses the largest medieval collection of books in the world, basically. There was an admission to go in and my ...
... for dinner. She said we could walk to a few different places in 10 to 15 minutes. Well, we must not have walked as fast as others...because it took us about 20 minutes to find Gaucho's, a Mexican restaurant in a village nearby. Jim was a little worried that we might be going the wrong way...but we did finally make it. PHEW! The dinner was a fun night of conversation and pretty good fajitas too. The walk ...
Lindau, Bavaria, Germany laytonandjana... much better than that! After leaving Switzerland and heading to Germany we made a quick pit stop in Lichtenstein. It is a small country, squeezed between Austria and Switzerland. There is no boarder control there and to be honest we couldn't really tell when we had arrived in it or when we had left it exactly. But hey, we can now say we have been there and add it to our growing list of countries visited on this trip. (And we broke a personal record , we ...
Lindau, Germany correll... Gottlieben, Switzerland. One of Rick's business associates had made reservations for us at the Hotel Drachenburg. Quite a nice place! Our room seemed very French with a bidet and a chaise lounge. We had lunch there and had dinner with Helmut. I don't have the name of the restaurant, but we had possibly the best poached salmon ever!!
Gottlieben, Thurgau, Switzerland padrepam... gorgeous and the views of it and from it are breathtaking.
After our tour we drove to Kempten and stayed at the Peterhof downtown. This was our first room with a tv...all German stations, of course!
