A travel blog entry by amzellen on Sep 08, 2014

My flight to San Jose was not until the evening so I had the morning to kill. Went down to the hotel breakfast and had plastic scrambled egg and some flat pork type gammon thing. Being america I wasn't expecting much healthy food but I was a bit shocked when the 'fruit platter' was about 4 bits of melon and pineapple. I think I ended up taking the …

Once through customs, etc., etc, we were met by our driver, Alex, and ...

Omitting festival season in Brazil and Argentina, it was incredible to see traditional dress still being fashioned almost everywhere else, and local customs played out at every possible opportunity. Its nice to see that the whole globe hasn't succumbed to Westernisation! I have a picture of a smiling, round cholita in a bowler hat and a vibrant layered skirt come to mind every time I think of Bolivia! One ...

It took a while for that bus to come though... we later found out it was because OBAMA is in town. They blocked off a lot of roads, and all government buildings were closed!! I was going to send postcards today. Apparently they only sell stamps at the post office, so no luck for me :-/

We spent the rest of the day resting and indulging in gourmet ice creams by the central park. Oh my gosh, all ...
