    ... floods. The offices or living quarters begin on the second or third floors. Many of the buildings have water line marks to show how high the river has gotten over the years. Check my photos! The most recent was 2013, the earliest and highest was 1501! Yes, these are some old buildings. When they talk modern section, there are referring to anything less than 200 years old!

    Oh dear. We had no idea our travels in our "shuttle" would be in a compact car over a mountain road in the snow. It was only snowing lightly but our surroundings were a wonder winter land. Jimmy. I was driving the car and my shoulders were up to the top of my head. Some of the two lane roads only had room for one car. And the road was snow covered at one point. ...

    ... restaurant. For the equivalent of $8.60 nz each, we both got a full tour of the brewery, 2x 300ml glasses of beer to taste & 4x 500ml bottles, each a different type beer! We met some of the girls in our tour group for lunch at a crepery. I had a crepe with grated banana and almond with chocolate hazelnut sauce (yummy!) and Brook had a savoury one with blue cheese, spinach & bacon.     ... but this option appeared to be easier than four trains/buses to travel a more direct route. The first bus was fabulous - brand new leather seats, wifi, individual entertainment screens. The second bus looked the same from the outside, but was dilapidated on the inside. Plastic seats, wifi didn't work, seat belts were poor, and the driver was an absolute head turner!     ... had some locals with strange haircuts in it. Here we had beer and baileys as these were pretty much the only drinks available since there is currently an alcohol ban on anything over 20%. This is due to a huge number of deaths and cases of blindness resulting from alcohol sold in bars and stores where someone has managed to put homemade moonshine into the normal spirits.
