ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilman... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city IŽd love to visit once a year minimum.....
Nice, Provence, France tilmanIt is Sunday and very wet and miserable here in Antibes. Quite a change from the glorious day we had yesterday. Ideal for computer work in fact... (Except that then things didn't pan out as planned and it is now Monday)
It wasn't my intention to have an entry before my departure but the response to my initial circular has been so overwhelming that I feel it merited an ...
... of the retired variety... nothing wrong with that, but even they are thin on the ground. Of course this has a lot to do with the time of year we are travelling and there is a festival van circuit the young antipodian crowd do each year, which is not really our thing. So it is our own fault for choosing this time and this route. The end result is that we tend to pounce upon anyone speaking English in the near vicinity. We haven't scared anyone off yet so we mustn't seem too desperate.
Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74... a plane or bus. Dee had horror memories of training to Syd for summer camps, but this was totally different. Each seat reclined, had a tray table and even a powerpoint and coat hook - we couldn't get over how luxurious and comfortable it was and agreed that the Eurail pass was a good investment as we got to see more of France in the train journey than if we had flown.
The hostel we were staying in is quite famous, as it is located in a converted monastery, where the monk who wrote 'Le ...
... while just enjoying the cool and watching the leathery French Riviera bodies – and there were a lot of them! Then it was time to get out….
I thought getting in was tough but that was nothing compared to getting out! Trying to climb up those pebbles and with the waves coming in and out was VERY difficult! Relle fell over and got ‘beached’, bum on the ground and the waves pushing her around. I was laughing so hard it made it harder for ...
Today we stepped on land as we anchored onto the picturesque coast of the French Riviera which offers beautiful beaches, remarkable weather and medieval communities along the way. We arrived in the port of Villefrance known for long sandy beaches, terrace cafes and amazing scenery. We walked through the cities of Nice and Cannes. Nice is the ...
Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France vernsadventures... getting drinks 10 min. later Annya came up to me and asked where my friends were. I told her at the bar but which one she was asking about in particular. She said Chace (pronounced Chas) was nice. What happened next surprised everyone. The Irish girls got down to the dance floor as did Chace and Aaron and Annya immediately started dancing and making out with Chace. About 2 minutes later she proceeded to rip Chace's shirt off and we ...
Nice, Provence, France jgreezy... a great laugh. Best tour ever. I would highly recommend Fat Tire Bike tours to anyone and they're not just in Paris. My last morning in Paris I did Notre Dame and St Chapelle before heading to Tours. Tours was a noticeably more relaxed town. Saturday I went on a tour of four castles in the Loire Valley my favourite being Chenonceau which is built on a bridge. Then it was a quiet day on Sunday in Tours ...
Nice, Provence, France lynley... fun. The only bad part was the size of our rooms, and to be honest, they really weren't all that bad. Day 10 Katrina Today was our first day on the mainland of Italy! We went to Naples and then on to Pompeii and saw the city of ash. Pompeii is called the city that froze in time. All of the houses and artifacts were still preserved and it is amazing to think that people once lived in this city. Then we went to the Cellini store where we ...
