... were still very sketchy, apart from spending the next few days in the southern Lake Region. After picking up the fixed bike and a spare tyre we drove 20kms north to Puerto Varas. Found an expensive campsite on Lake Llanquihue, which appeared to be sponsored by Pepsi given the logo on every single sign. ... I may surf a bit there. Then I will pack my bike up and bus the busy 300k to Arica, hopefully for some more surfing, before going to Cusco and Macchu Pichu. I will either bus or fly to Cusco. Flying may be safer. This does all mean that I will be biking a lot less. Once I stop to see Vicki in 10 days, I will probably only do another week cycling. ... We were really lucky with the weather, it was sunny all the time, so most of the day could be spent outside in a incredible surrounding. The front deck was actually freezing, but the view was best of course! The longer the trip was, the higher the mountains
and the more snow J there were seals, penguins and dolphins on the way and also my favorite: flightless steamboat ducks :D

... and we discovered that as we hoped our bags would be transited straight through the airport at Santiago and we were given boarding cards for the flight to Santiago and the onward flight to Puerto Montt. The airport at Calama was freezing. There seemed to be no heating and the air had not warmed up from the night time. There was also an icy wind blowing. No doubt it would be really hot by the afternoon.
