We then headed to a fish and vegetable market which conveniently also had lots of things for tourists to buy - alpaca products, chocolates, little mementos, etc.. There was also an array of cheeses and butters as well as massive amounts of shell fish. See pix. Here on the coast a portion of crab may cost $12 - while the same portion would cost $50 in Santiago.

... He now lives in Cape Town, South Africa where is wife is from. Martin our room steward is from the Philliphines. He's also a long timer with Princess (2001). He works 9 month contracts. When I asked him why 9 months he said only the Europeans get 6 month contracts. Interesting. Even though it seems like a long time away, people seem to like their jobs.     ... Lake District is an outdoor recreation mecca. People here bike, hike, fish, white water raft, kayak, and camp. Andrea says it is safe to hike here since the wildest animal, the puma, is few in number and they stay to the higher elevations.
