Today was a bit of a test run for doing our walks and hikes through the cities of europe we will visit in the next couple of weeks. Today we were going to find out way through the old city, through the central squares and then up through the covered arches all the way to the Basilica San Lucca. We probably did close to 9 ks today. Of course we had stops along the way at the odd cafe and pizza restaurant ...

Then on to the main square Piazza Maggiore past the Fontana del Nettuno (Fountain of Neptune) to the Basilica di San Petronio. Everything here is on a massive scale compared to Vicenza & the other towns. Hard to ...

... stayed strong. We were inspired by runners and fitness enthusiasts who were clearly using the beautiful porticoes as part of their regimen. We had to stop briefly here and there to breathe and rest, but this effort is well worth it, and it helps burn off all of the heavenly Bolognese food. The church itself is not all that special, but of course I say that as it compares to the breathtaking churches of Italy. It was closed which made me sad because it has art by Guido Reni and ...
