... and always with a big smile) out number their customers.
Carol did not always ignore the beach sellers, she has bought not only fruit from them, we also now have bracelets, earings and necklaces, all their own work.
The views up and down the long beach are 'post card' and behind the resort are the mountans of Lesong and Catur.
An example of a good evening meal at the "Madre":
Bruschetta or a sort of caesar salad

... go and ride the “Gnarly waves man”. He hired a board and went out in the crystal blue bath water! After showing the pros how to fall off the surfboard safely and renaming himself Chicken Joe (Surfs up….. awesome film!) he is officially declaring to the world his retirement after sustaining injury of a scratched leg! Anyways, it was awesome fun and did not break any limbs! It was quite funny though when Beckie tried taking some pictures of Rob out ...
Bali, Indonesia johannesjudith... our names. We didn't really recognize them and wondered if they really were shouting our names or if that was our imagination. They kept on getting closer and closer, obviously extremely excited to see us. Once they got up to us, we realized that they were kids from our school. They looked like most all the other kids and they looked different out of their uniforms, but we still recognized them a little bit once they got up close. They had recognized ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia snclark8... More often than not, there are one or two Ritz crackers set on the very top; · It has been a little unsettling to be staying in a town that has been rocked by terrorist bombings (aimed at foreigners). In both 2002 and 2005 there were bombs that killed more than 200 people including 2 Canadians. In both instances, the bombs went off in restaurants frequented by tourists, just like the ones we have been eating in. It was also sobering to stand at the ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia elopfamily... in Ulu Watu. That was one of my favorite experiences of the trip. The cliffs were so pretty-except for all of the monkeys! On the third and fourth days we did not do to much-mostly due to the fact that the boys were too hungover to wake up! The other girl and I did manage to do a lot of shopping on these two days though. I bought a Buddha wall hanging, two dresses, a piece of material for my quilt (just for you, Jan!), a wooden ...
Bali, Indonesia lrhodes... after taking the first picture. Once I had dried everything off, I opened the battery latch and saw that it looked dry. I held my breath and prayed that I had simply forgotten to recharge the battery, but alas when I took the battery out the bottom of it was wet. I am not sure how the water got in, but my underwater camera is now broken. It is still under warranty, but it will likely be a challenge to get it fixed before I return home to Canada. I had also been ...
Padangbai, Bali, Indonesia aaronpolarbear... We attended a Legong dance show in the palace where the musicians played a local instrument using a type of hammer. Gorgeous costumes and an extremely tight and well put together show. We did a nights trekking to Gunung Batur Volcano. Up at 2am and after finding a guide in the local village we climbed over volcanic terrain in the darkness under a blanket of a million stars up the mountain with only ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia ruairioc... now. Sometimes it makes me sad that I still don't get it. I must have things repeated time and time again to really learn something. After Mt. Bromo we took a bus all day to the island of Bali. We have been in Bali now for 4 days and it's truly paradise here. Kuta, where we are staying, is more of a party place for Australians on holiday. It's nice to sit back and relax with a good book on the beach after rushing this past week in Java. Our time is limited ...
Bali, Indonesia itenerant78... sweetened, green tea. "No Monkey!", he immediately cried out for the silent street to hear. It jumped off and looked mischeviously at him. "No", he repeated. And we walked on. Now I am sitting in the middle of our internet cafe. I am thinking to myself, just how long ago was Champions League? (Jim) That monkey was the size of a German Shepherd.
