Had breakfast at Hotel then went up to see Linda and say goodbye to Wolfgang. Jan then drove us into Saarbrucken for the day as he had to spend time with Linda making arrangements for the funeral. Walked around the lovely St Johann Market Place with pretty shops and restaurants and down along the river bank. Jan picked us up and back to our hotel. Later we went out to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner. Had an early night to bed as we were still ...

Started our trek back to where we started late morning, the Don pinched a bike from the hire place before they opened to go up to the store for some breakfast supplies. A pleasant day spent on board cruising but it was a long one being eight hours on the water. We laze around, Maddie swings, Kathy and M-L view life through the looking glass and the Don just wants to stir up the swans. So wanting them to make all our day and have a go at him, he dares one but really can not be bothered with him. Lots of fisher people around they have the longest poles , can be up to 6 - 8 metres in length and then they just sit the line ...

Today was a great travelling day. We drove from Paris, through the Champagne-Ardenne region of France, crossing over the border into Germany. We are staying overnight in the town of Saarbrucken, which is only about 15 min from the French border. On our way here we stopped for lunch in the Foret dominale de Verzy, which is a lovely forest near the village of Verzy. It contains the very unique trees known as the Faux de Verzy. Faux are dwarf beech trees that only ...

      Germany - week 2

A travel blog entry by mccauleyj on Jul 05, 2013

... 7 we went. I danced with and met a few cute German boys but the language barrier was difficult in the loud club. We left the club at 3ish and walked home. Our appartment is in a semi-sketchy area, so thank goodness Alfonso was with me (this worries me about other cities, I hope I am always staying in decent parts). Overall it was a big drinking city night. It was nights like these (and always actually) that I really appreciated Alfonso being with me. Ashley is sweet, ...
