... and has a population of over 180,000. But we were off to Pisa and Firenze which you may know better as Florence. The thing that we were reminded of often through the commentary was the age of the buildings and the way things have changed over time. Today Pisa is some 10 kilometres from the coast, but in the 11th century it was a major seafaring town in the Mediterranean. Over the centuries of time, the coast has moved. Quite amazing.

The next morning was hell. I felt terrible and we had all kinds of drama getting the bags out. I was late to breakfast, but Kevin, Robin and Ali were still there. They were concerned about how I was feeling. I guess they could hear me coughing in the courtyard because we had the window open. I was embarrassed about my ruckus, but they told me they would keep me drugged up. Robin gave me some DayQuil to help me through till we could get to a pharmacy. They were ...

Still not sure why it's leaning (the explanation seemed like too much effort to read) so that's a job for tomorrow before leaving for Elba. So far I won't be sad to see the back of Pisa, but maybe it will look nicer in the sun ...

... bar Mikes & I had found and had a cocktail at last Sunday night) It steps down under street level in the anfiteatro called ‘the 70’s’ bar due to the fact that they play 70’s music. We ordered drinks and helped ourselves to the delicacies available on the food table… The barman was very nice and really enjoying himself. It was a good find and we will definitely be back .

... alone, and it was too family/couple oriented. But I don't mean to bad talk the place. It actually is really beautiful and a great place if you are with someone else and looking for an active/hiking trip. But after being in Italy already for 10 days, it was just sort of a pain. Looking back I should have skipped Cinque Terre on this particular trip and saved the money. Of course looking at the photos you will think I'm being ridiculous, and I realize this.
