Well Allen was a day late to go to my favourite French hospital in Aix-en-Provence, but he managed a couple of nights in Princess Grace Hospital ...

If only our friend on the phone from yesterday could have seen us last night. Arriving late into Milan, we found ourselves some back to back park benches in a triangular shaped park not far from the railway station. Salvaging some cardboard from a nearby fruit shop, we fashioned ourselves a thin mattress and slept under the stars, Wendy and I taking shifts to watch our packs as the kids slept. ... Hotel in light drizzle (we can cope with that!). Time to sort out our biking luggage into reasonable order before tomorrow's ride up to Alsace in eastern France. A final chance for a quiet relax. Rang home and caught up with things.
Meeting at 7pm for our final evening down in Stresa. Will be sad to leave but it is the sort of place we have all agreed we would revisit with our 'better halves'.
