Hotel Brisamar Pineda de Mar

I have just come back from barcelona..my favourite city ever! I was there as part of my erasmus placement and im so pleased I chose Barcelona to spend it. I worked for 5 months in an internship but finished at 4pm everyday and had so much time to enjoy the city.

Usually around 4 in the afternoon the wind comes up and it is windy while making diner and eating. The evenings cool off and great for sleeping.

They do have mosquitoes here. Not too many, but they are a bother when they buzz your ear in the night. We had bought a screen netting. Screens on windows or in campers is very rare ...

... several campgrounds, now the one we wanted, but settled in the small town of Pineda del Mar at the Camping Bell Sol. We are in the back lot, only transients are here so it is quiet. They also have a dorm, rooms and mobile homes to rent, a bit pricy though.

Now the facilities. They are separate! And the toilettes have seats and paper! What a find.

... terrific mimes, especially at night, that can remain still for an unimagineable length of time. My favorite was a guy on an old fashioned bicycle. They look just like statues. At Placa de Catalunya there is a main Metro station as well as a huge Corte Ingles department store. There is a large cybercafe on Las Ramblas so I bought a plan and checked to see if there was an update on my luggage. No, we´re still tracing it the message said. ... and Barcelona has a great metro system, but alot of the attractions are spread out, so I bit the bullet and purchased a ticket for one of those open-top tourist buses. That easily took the entire day. Some of the highlights include several architectural wonders by Gaudi, who seems to have left his imprint all over this city. One of his most famous pieces is a church called ´la segrada familia´, which is the longest running construction project ever ...

... least partly soaked. We decided to end the day then, and dry off before going to dinner.

After changing into dry clothes we went to eat warm, hearty and comforting paella at a nearby restaurant. We had decided early on in the day that we were not up for a repeat of last night, so instead we went to a relaxed Irish pub across the street for a beer and talk. Around 11pm or so, Grace decided to head back to the hostel to sleep while Sonia, Letty, Colleen and I went on a walk ...

... I next went to Park Güell, which hosts more Gaudi designs, including his former residence (now a museum for his work) and sculptures. After this was the Place Espagna, then up and around a hill past the Olympic park and finally back to the starting point at the tourism office. ... 14 hours. Still on the bus. Silence holds onto us, dreamless sleep. The faint running lights of the cabin reflects oddly in the windows and the smell of day old bodies is heavy in the air. You can hear the road beneath the wheels. Thump thump, thump thump. The sound of a wanderers lullaby. 63 km left says a roadsign as it flies by the window, but I may have read it wrong. The first car in 20 minutes floats by silently. Alone.
