... Melč and moved closer to Vienna. Leaving Olomouc, we drove up into the Moravian countryside. I would compare it to the rolling hills of upstate New York where Grandma Buckhout/Lorentson used to live. Narrow roads winding up, down, and around, and then through small communities. The exception to this was the size of the pastures at the tops of the hills, those brought to mind Montana, especially as we got further east and could at times make out ...

Then another wedding party arrived (Jewish) and they partied on in the back garden with a folk band which ...

... we were riding, the "highlighted" route and the map didn't coincide at all! Nor did the route instructions! Bumbled our way somehow to the village of Osek, stopped for lunch. PM - Away we headed east towards Castle Helfstyn, route looked straight forward but no, a new cycle path then appeared, more Route 5 signs (not on map), aaaagh! Turned back again, made a calculated guess and yes, found our route in the village of Tyn nad Becvou. Stopped for a cold ...

... pastry called Stramberk Ears - a gingerbread cone filled with whipped cream and topped with sprinkles. Our hotel for the night was high in the mountains (3000 feet), a ski resort in winter and hiking spot the rest of the year. After a traditional dinner we were entertained by a group of very energetic Moravian singers and dancers. Sunset from our mountaintop was beautiful, ...
