This morning was a 0800 departure but thankfully we both slept well last night. It was a 15 minute walk to the bus. The bus was a new Mercedes bus with 49 seats and we are only 22 so everyone has their own seat. The castle is about 10-15 minutes from Melč, and is a pretty spectacular castle - I think much more in line with the Disney Princess type castle (except for the use of red brick) then anything we have seen up to now. We ate inside the cafe (air conditioned) as it was still 29C outside. Walked around a bit waiting for the temperature to drop, then headed back to hotel to complete FB and the ...

... in shopping in the supermarket in the photos. Headed into Novy Jicin-Louca through the old town gate, impressive, so was the beautiful town square lined with Renaissance and Baroque houses. Ate our (breakfast) lunch here, it was getting quite hot again. We could see harvesters out in the fields reaping canola and wheat. Then another killer hill as we entered Stramberk with the castle sitting way, way up on the hill in the middle of the town. Then a long down ...

... chicken rolls, I followed this with a dessert of Apple strudel and Lana had a (?) something! Early to bed tonight then a very detailed inspection of all maps and instructions tomorrow morning to avoid a repeat of today's ride! And we are thinking of the families of those people who died on Malaysian Airlines flight MH 17. A Footnote from the castle website: Helfštýn Castle is a protected cultural monument administered by the Comenius Museum in ...
