    Day 1: Crossing the Rubicon

... crossing a stream. What? Really? Yep, it's the Rubicon. Back in 2009 "crossing the Rubicon" in Savegnano was a chance for me to reflect on my life, how far I've gone, and what things I'll never turn back to again. Now, 4 years later I "cross the Rubicon" again--this time as a part of a Superhike... so I have a chance to ponder on how far I've gone since 2009. Back in 2009 my Global Parkbench Tour was just 2 years old. I was still working out ...

... and a wide verge in others.

We stopped for a top up at Lido di Classe, a spot just off the beach. It was hot. We had a chat to the lady in the cafe. Two of her daughters live in Sydney and a niece, a nurse at the Children's Hospital Cancer Ward in Brisbane. Tis a small world. Annette handled the first part well until she got about half way when she exited the seat and used her feet. I waited until she caught up with me and we both climbed up the remainder of the mountain.

The 3km ride down the other side of the hill was interesting. Annette killed it with a max speed of about 42kph. I was not as fortunate as with a ...

... hats on. The rescue craft are a stand on wooden flat boat with two oars. We had one of them in the water near us. He was a real tosser! We enjoyed the water and the swim before we headed back poolside. I realized how hot it was when ventured out of the water. The water close to the beach was hot, real hot.

We enjoyed a short stint at the pool before heading back to the room to do a bit of washing. The washing is completed ...

Venice to San Marino - Travel day

Venice morning was another spin around the canals and then a little shopping. Even at the H&M sales. We then caught the slow boat to China - actually the ferry from the top of the main canal to the bus station (45 mins with all the stops) to meet Lee who was waiting to meet us with our black Opal station wagon hire car. We drove to San Marino and caught the cable car up to the top. We had visited here with Erwin and Di and loved ...
