Anyway, with lots of hugs and happy cries of "buona ventura" (good luck), we all went our separate ways.
Now it's late and I need to finish packing to get ready to leave for Venice bright and early tomorrow morning. I'm leaving most of my clothes here (I'm sick of them anyway) because I have no room for them now -- let alone when I leave Venice. We'll see what else I decided to leave behind there!
... my Russian partner in crime, who's been absent the past two days, and who also never speaks.
+ Alice, a nice lady from Brazil, who already had some Italian and is only here this week. She will speak up now and again.
+ Justin, the strong and silent priest from India, who never, ever speaks.

... most smaller streets have the sidewalk on the same level as the street pavement with only a difference in surface materials or design to differentiate between them.

I'm so grateful to the people in my class, Katya and Kaoru in particular (although they all are great). We support and encourage one another in so many ways: sending waves of patience and empathy to one another, even as we each feel great impatience/shame for our own lapses in memory. There's just SO much to learn and to remember!! Sometimes I despair at ever ...
... and a mack jacket dancing with all the women that would happen to be near him. Paolo called him 'lumberjack man', he was quite entertaining to watch. As the night progressed the music steadily increased in volume and we decided we could not wait any longer for the bikini contest to begin, we left at 11pm. We were satisfied enough to have witnessed lumberjack man with his Jamaican dance moves on the dance floor.
