Well not quite the top of the world but near to it. The drive to Colfosco was absolutely spectacular. We wound our way up a valley from Bassano del Grappa following a picturesque crystal clear river, gradually increasing in altitude. In and out of tunnels until we are at quite an elevation and snow more prevalent. I will add that the GPS had stopped working - again - somewhere along the way so we were dependant upon road signs and the phone ...

We had a wonderful time in Venice today including Mass in the "catacombs" of St Mark's, a fun, long stroll to the Rialto Bridge, lunch in a charming cubby upstairs in a bakery and a gondola ride. Hoping to add pictures tomorrow and you will see that we are dressed like Eskimos. It was really cold. We just finished a delicious five course dinner and are bundling up again to go into the town square for New Year's Eve fireworks. Out Fitbits tell us that we walked over 4 miles today ... So ...

Snow on the ground greeted us in Frankfurt. Nearly 1 1/2 miles through the airport and we reached our gate to Venice. After watching the wings get de-iced-we finally got underway. We walked around Padua this evening ... also known as Padova. It is quite cold but will be colder in the morning in Venice. We had Mass in a pretty chapel in the church of St. Plus X. Pictures are from Padua. Hope they will ...

... 1305 and considered one of the most important masterpieces of western art. Unfortunately you need to book to see this 3 days in advance (which I was aware) and you get 15 mins viewing time, it's probably just as good seeing a picture of it on the internet! I guess we can say that we saw the outside building. We continued down through the old part of town and came to a beautiful piazza - "Pratto Della Valle" it's the largest in Italy, with a large circular lake ...
