... are exactly what you picture when you think of a little german town... I bet it´s beautiful here at Christmas. That afternoon, to stay dry, we did some wine tasting. They are famous for their Reisling here and have it in dry (trocken) half dry (halftrocken) and sweet (liebich... maybe). Bacharach has some really good wines.
The next morning the sun had come out so we decided to take a bike ride up to the next town, St. Goar. From there, we ...
... walking tour will highlight the appeal of Koblenz – its romantic narrow streets and historical squares, the picturesque alleyways and fountains in the old quarter and the 12th century churches of St. Florin and Our Lady."

So well I on my way to Bremen I had a 2 hour stop in Koblentz and it was 11 at night. I wish I could say I went and partied hard but I didn't. I tried, I followed some spot lights in the sky but those were to far to walk to so I just walked around a few blocks and found a dinner/bar and had a few ...
Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidier... middle of town. So amazing and I see why it was highly recommended in the travel book. The pictures and movies I have do it no justice. Yet after I arrived at Koblenz I had to switch trains for Trier and then traveled down the Mosel to Trier and the Mosel River was just as beautiful with many more vineyards and rolling hills. I really love traveling by train.
Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidier... walking around. So I walked up to the castle on the hill above town. I took a tour and actually enjoyed this castle a lot better than Burg Katz. The view of the Mosel from there was amazing, and there was more to see inside. There was a cool mermaid chandelier in one of the rooms, and the legend was that if you touched its belly and made a wish, it would come true (so I did, of course).
After I walked down from the castle, I decided to ...
... 8217;t much time to take in all the castles because there were so many of them. But going from St. Goar to Koblenz, the castles were more spread apart. So I actually had time to sit and relax in between, enjoying the scenery.
Here’s what we passed:
1. Burg Maus
2. The "Hostile Brother" castles—the castles of Sterrenberg & Liebenstein, which were supposedly owned by two brothers who argued over ...
... to make 4 different transfers in order to get up to the Rhine Valley, and my next one was in the town of Wurzburg. So when we were almost there I heard an announcement in German that I assumed was next stop Wurzburg (because I heard blah blah blah "Wurzburg" blah blah blah). So I got ready to get off the train, and we quickly stopped at a small station. I saw a sign outside the window that said Wurzburg Hbf (abbrev. for Hauptbahnhof, or central station), so I got off ...
Bacharach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany zolina... along the river.
It is obvious that with such a narrow valley, the explosions of a fireworks result in a multitude of echoes which is like having a fireworks event in the Grand Canyon.
On both sides of the river near St. Goars there are two fortresses, which were used to stage the fireworks. Also a platform in the middle of the river was used to shoot the fireworks ...
... one person our whole time in Germany who didn’t speak English and it was at this café. But pointing to the item on the menu was fine and we enjoyed another glass of wine before our train.
The train was a short 15-minute ride back to Koblenz. No one checked our ticket on this or any other train journey in Germany, but they checked every time in Belgium and the Netherlands. Once we ...
... a couple of passengers because the current was so strong. The next day we drove up the Mosel river to a town called Cochem. The Rhein and Mosel rivers both meet at Koblenz. We visited a castle up there and saw a lady with a falcon doing a dispaly for children. It was interesting to watch. Oh, and we stopped for coffee when we arrived and before we left. Manfred needs his coffee breaks! Thursday we packed up and headed to the Netherlands. Manfred and Mieke have a caravan up there. Meike ...
