Today was a public holiday (see yesterday's entry) and everything was closed except the cafés which were doing a great business. The sun was out for a lot of the day too.
The school kids were out in force again with their marching and drumming and having a great time. There were priests and lots of dignataries laying wreaths and then more marching and drumming through the lined streets. It was quite moving to see.

It is a special day tomorrow in Greece. It's called Ohi Day or No Day and is celebrated throughout Greece and Greek communities around the world on October 28 each year, to commemorate the rejection by Greek Prime Minister Ioannis Mextaxas of the ultimatum made by Italian dictator Mussolini on October 28 in 1940 demanding that Greece allow Axis forces to enter Greek territory and occupy certain strategic locations ...

I spent the late afternoon walking around mostly doing the walk from the main square to my hostel so I'd have it in my muscle memory for later. Around 9 I ...

I went to an area called little Venice( I think every town has one of these) which has a lot of shops. I then went towards the sea and found a " beach" which is really a concrete slab where one can jump off from into the sea. It is in a little cove so much more wind sheltered than anywhere else. The water is see through and an amazing colour and not too cold- only put my feet in. ...
