This is a less expensive hotel on the beach of Brasilito. We went for supper, it was ok - a smidgen less cost than other places we had eaten but definitely not as good.

We each had a drink, guacamole, Roger had chicken, the girls had fish and chips, I had 2 chicken skewers. It was $32,000 Colones = $59 USD.

Even though the area was fairly nice, just across from the beach and a bar next door and some little food places we got a room that had no AC and it was ridiculously HOT. I mean it was suffocating and the Ceiling Fan did nothing to help. I went outside late at night as it was slightly cooler. I had to shower several time during the night to keep cool. Sleep was must unrestful. The hotel did try to keep its rooms clean and I would not complain on that part. The restaurant/bar was also nice...expensive but nice to sit and relax. If you stay...get a Room with AC. It would have been much better if we did.

We spent the day exploring the area in Brasilto, Playa Flamingo, Playa Potrero. I think you definitely need a vehicle to go out and exploring. We are also interested in either living here full time or part time. Our definitely favourite area is Playa Flamingo, it appeared this was the highest concentration of people/tourists in the area. It took us …

... was the lady who arrived on the same day as me and so we would be able to do the journey together. We got the bus stop in time and bought some breakfast on the way. The first leg of the journey was through the centre of San Jose which was nice too see and then out onto the 'motorway'. This part took around 4 hours. We then stopped at a place called jicaral where we had to change buses. The next bus was ...

This is my fourth time being here, but this place still completely surprises me everytime I come! It's absolutely beautiful here and all the people are so friendly and caring. I like to think of Costa Rica as my home ...

... we opted to walk to the local waterfalls. Very hot but excellent walk, saw heaps of birds including a toucan and aracari (mini toucan). Very colourful beautiful birds and it is evident that in contrast to countries like Vietnam, not every animal gets eaten as soon as it moves. We also saw the first agouti (guinea pig on steroids) and a basilisk lizard . Poor Sarah ...

... water here! But yeah, that's another $40, diving is an expensive hobby/employment. The devil rays were back in force today and I saw 4 or 5 all jumping out of the water at the same time. I really want to see one under the water. I'm here for a while so it's got to happen some time. The only other interesting thing I really saw today was an octopus. To be fair the visibility was not brilliant today so it was harder to actually spot stuff. Did finally ...
