Paris with Sandy who is a genuine History buff!

... fun....but we needed to book 2 days in advance. Maybe next time.

After our visit to Versailles we had one more task. Find the HardRock Cafe! We took a boat to the Champ de Elysses and then a taxi wherein I asked to go to Monmmarte Blvd. Unfortunately the taxi driver took us to Saint Suplice church in Monmmarte, which was quite a distance from our goal. Saint Suplice church is a bit of a hangout for the hippies. Sandy didn`t like the look of these folks and I`d have to admit ...

A Crazy Lady and Paris Part Deux

... is it French or Arabic that is supposed to be spoken? I heard both and even the tv stations and newspapers are one or the other. A lot of people just seemed really comfortable letting either language roll of their tongues. So how do you know who speaks what? Is there some kind of unwritten code? For me it was easy since I don't speak either but I wonder how Tunisians navigate this bilingual world. Is the place European or Arab? Almost every ...

I love holiday weekends

... retailers were closed. In any case, I was sad because for once, I was very ready to shop and there wasn't any! That, so far has been my weekend. I'm really happy to have gone to those things and checked them off of my incredibly long, ever growing list. Today, I know that we will be heading to the Rodin museum with a packed picnic to have lunch in the garden surrounded by his sculptures. That should pretty much be... amazing.

First half of the week

... her they'd pay for her to take out a few friends to a nice dinner. My friends Tina, Nikki, and Anne came along. To start off we had an aperatif at a very posh restaurant calle Le Train Bleu which is in the Gare de Lyon (a major train station here). The restaurant has lots of little private rooms which is where we got to sit. After our drinks we walked across the street to L'Europeen which is a fancy steak and seafood restaurant. For starters we had oysters and ... escargot ...

Weekend in Paris

... our hotel. I was shocked to see that the prices were cheaper there than they are in Spain! The fashion is also much better. I haven't really found any clothes in Spain that I would really want to buy. The clothes in Paris were much like the US malls-with some of the same stores. I was excited to go shopping there on Sunday. After we left the Arc, we decided we were really tired. It was around 6 p.m., but we had pretty much been walking all ...

Relaxing in Paris...

... a few looks though because the purchase of my speakers at Virgin allowed me to play aloud my downloaded audio tour of the Louvre and the three of us just wandered through and actaully learned a thing or two because of it....again my planning here was perfection because there was absolutely no way to know what the heck was going on in that place once you were in....it took nearly one hour to get out once we decided to do so........we all want to get t ...

... to get a ham and cheese crepe from a street vendor before heading back to the hotel for bed. I was walking around in the afternoon and found myself in front of Hotel Du Dragon, one of the hotels Dave and I stayed at on our honeymoon. Must admit that was sad, we had such a lovely time here together. But luckily that hasn't been a shadowing feeling of my time here, as I have also been here with my Dad ...

This is not a disney world park!

... is a real big issue in Europe and I experienced it firsthand. On our way home we got off the metro at our stop and Rebecca noticed 2 guys following us. So we tried the stop to see if they'll stop method- and they DID! Luckily a few policemen were around, so we went to go talk to them. Hoping they could escort us to our hotel- but they couldn't speak English and we can't speak French. Through translators and such we finally described ...

Napoleon's Diner

... Dublin had to offer. Baileys and Coffee, what a combo! Whilst all warm and feeling good we thought we best visit the Guinness Brewery. And visit we did. We were educated in the beer making process, the effects of alcohol and my ego was even given a boost as I read that the proverb "men seldom make passes at girls with glasses" was fallacious. Our tour culminated with a pint of Guinness and my goodness it took some time but I finished every last drop. Satiated and ...
