The next tutorial, we all just discuss the literature based on the learning objectives. There is no professor sitting in front of us telling us what we need to know, generally we need to figure it out on our own.

In Maastricht, Carnaval is a huge celebration. Originally, it began as a Catholic celebration right before Lent begins. Now, it's just one big, three-day-long party. People here begin preparing for the event in November, even though Carnaval is the first weekend in March. Suffice it to say, it's a big deal here in Maastricht and I'm so excited to be able to participate. We even get an entire week off of school for it.

Today was a day to get a lot of stuff done. I had to go to ING Bank today because money in the Netherlands is a lot harder than I expected. I can't use my visa card practically anywhere because it doesn't have a little chip in it that all European cards have, so basically it's useless and getting cash is expensive and a hassle. ... similar to an American style shopping mall, with a bunch of stores and restaurants all in an enclosed space. There was also a supermarket too, which was kind of strange.
